FAQ

Questions, answered properly.

No hedging and no marketing answers. If a number is involved, it's the one the app actually charges.

Fares & payment

How is my fare worked out?

Base fare + (per-km rate × your distance) + (per-min rate × your time). Each vehicle has its own three rates — a bike is Rs 50 base, Rs 18/km and Rs 1/min. That's the whole formula; you can run it yourself on our fare estimator.

Is there surge pricing?

No. There is no surge multiplier applied to fares. Rain, rush hour and public holidays do not change the rate — the same distance costs the same thing at 3am as at 6pm.

When do I actually pay?

It depends on the service. A standard ride takes nothing up front — you pay at the end, by wallet or cash. A rental holds 50% when you book, with the balance due at completion. A pool seat is paid in full at booking. In every case the money sits in escrow until the trip is done.

What does AC cost?

Air conditioning adds 20% and only applies to cars and vans, because they're the only vehicles that can provide it. You'll never see an AC charge on a bike or rickshaw fare.

Can I pay cash?

Yes. You can pay with cash or from your Drivio wallet. The wallet is what makes escrow work, so it is the smoother option, but cash is always accepted.

Cancellations & refunds

What does cancelling cost?

26% of the fare on a standard ride, 26% of the fare on a pool trip, and Rs 501 on a rental. The same penalty applies to riders — if they cancel on you, they pay it, not you.

What if the rider never turns up?

You're refunded, and the penalty falls on them. That's the point of the rule being symmetrical — a rider who accepts and then vanishes has something to lose.

How do I get my deposit back on a rental?

Rental deposits (Rs 1,000 from the customer, Rs 500 from the rider) are held in escrow for the duration of the rental and released when it ends without a dispute.

Safety

Who is driving me?

Somebody who has submitted their CNIC, driving licence, vehicle registration and a police character certificate — and had all of it approved by an admin. You see their name, photo, vehicle and plate before they arrive.

Can someone else follow my trip?

Yes. You can share your live trip view, and we would encourage it for any late-night ride.

What does the SOS button do?

It sits inside a live ride and raises an alarm in one tap, without you having to leave the app or explain where you are.

Pool & rentals

How is a pool seat priced?

The rider who scheduled the route sets the price per seat — there's no distance formula for pool. You see the exact price on each trip before you book a seat on it.

How far ahead are pool trips scheduled?

Riders plan pool routes about a day in advance, so the trips running tomorrow are already listed today.

Why does a same-day rental cost more?

A same-day rental adds 26%. Booking ahead lets a rider plan their day around your booking rather than drop everything for it, and the rate reflects that.

What can I rent?

Bikes, cars, rickshaws, vans, loaders and pickups — by the hour, with fuel included or not. Rates for all six are published on the rental page.

Driving with Drivio

What does Drivio take from my fare?

A flat Rs 9 commission per completed ride — it doesn't scale with your fare. GST and a service charge come off as well; the earnings calculator on the rider page shows every line, and so does your earnings screen in the app.

How do I sign up as a rider?

Download the app and complete the five registration steps — personal details, documents, vehicle, the services you want to take, then review. An admin reviews your application and you get a decision in the app.

Can I set my own prices?

For hourly rentals, yes — you propose fuel-included and fuel-excluded rates and an admin approves them. Standard ride fares use the platform rates so customers can compare fairly.
